- I have been provided with a Rockwell chipset North American modem v34
- type and am having problems getting it to be recognised by my system.
-
- This is the second modem that I have tried and once the system can "see"
- the modem it will work fine and always returns 28,800 connects to the
- various online systems I connect to.
-
- Once it is up and running it will work for hours on end but if I switch
- the system off it can take numerous attempts of powering up the modem
- and the system before the modem will function again.
-
- The previous modem that I tried also had the same problem, has anyone
- any ideas to what might be causing the problem, the modem manufacturer
- just says that "this model is intended for use in the USA only and is
- not suitable for use in the U.K.".
-
- Obviously there must be numerous people using American modems here in
- the U.K. without any problem, was wondering if there is anything in the
- "active profile" of the modem (which defaults to American settings) that
- might cause this problem, once the modem is "awoken" it is fine.
